LogicAssistance Builds Applications

We all know computers and networks can do wonderful things for us.  Of course, when we open the box, dump the contents on the table and then put the pieces together, it doesn't seem that apparent.  The logic seems to be hidden somewhere in there -- but where?

LogicAssistance has been building applications for decades.  These applications helped people realize the potential from their networked computers and from the business operations which those networked computers support.

Below are a few examples of applications LogicAssistance developed:

RealTime On-Line Time Keeping Application

Electronic time keeping is a dream many have had for years.  There are a few inherent problems with electronic time keeping.  LogicAssistance has figured out how to get past those problems.

In 2002, LogicAssistance developed RealTime On-Line Time Keeping for itself and MSM Group Inc.  This had to be a DCAA compliant system with a complete audit trail as well as built in hooks for issues like tardy-time-entry, early-time-entry and the need for explanations for the hours worked.  It also needed to be used on-site and off-site since many of the end users were sometimes hundreds of miles from the office collecting time.  Furthermore, the data from RealTime needed to be flexible enough to work with customer accounting systems.  Finally, the application needed to be secure.

The result was the RealTime on-line time keeping system by LogicAssistance and marketed by MSM Group, Inc.  For most people who use the system, the interface is so easy, it barely needs training.  For the time records manager and the accounting department, it has reports and features that allow for extensive control and is flexible enough to have just about any kind of export or import customized for it.

Contract Managment Systems For NASA Contractors

Since 1997, LogicAssistance has been working on contract management systems for NASA contractors.  Although LogicAssistance was brought on merely to assist with these systems in 1997, by 1998 we started developing improvements to the systems and by 2000 the improvements we had developed had become part of the standard RFP at NASA Glenn Research Center.

These system need to not only reflect the contractor's actual numbers from their accounting systems but also provide other utilities mandated by the government.  Further, these applications need to be secure, easily updateable, work under government security systems an have granularly permissions so as to get as much information to the right hands while keeping sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands.  These systems are built with strong emphasis on government security, network security, human resources security and business usability.

Information Systems For Department Of Transportation Projects

Since about 1990, departments of transportation have been charged with keeping the public informed when the orange barrels go up.  This is not done only to keep the angry motorists from revolting but also for emergency facilities (EMS, fire, police, hospitals) and area business owners.  Because of the success of these programs, over the past decade-and-a-half there is a growing need to get the word to the people, utilities and the news agencies in a timely fashion.

LogicAssistance has been working with contractors charged with these traffic information management tasks to build web sites and systems to help get the word out quickly, efficiently and effectively.

  Order Systems For Shipping Logistics

One of our PHP/Apache/PostgreSQL projects was an on-line order system for a transportation logistics company.  This system needed to be available to the customers on-line as well as to integrate with a shipping application at the company headquarters and be ready to accept orders from customer applications via XML transfer.  LogicAssistance is still working with this project as the customer's needs develop.
